Manly Mondays using Paper Pumpkin

This morning while I was having my morning coffee and watching Designing Women on YouTube (love that show but I have the say sometimes it makes feel old with some of the references they make) my monthly subscription of Paper Pumpkin arrived.  Perfect timing and I was especially curious to receive this one as there was 2 stamp sets included.

This card was so easy to put together !!  I didn’t even follow the instructions.  I just dug in.

The kit came with a Poppy Parade Ink Spot but I choose to go with Bermuda Bay.  And look at the inside

How cute is that !!  It took me less than 5 minutes.  I made it a 53 since I know a guy who’s celebrating his 53rd soon.

Cling Mount Stamps Versus Clear Mount

Stampin’ Up announced this past fall that they would no longer produce wood mounted stamps.  I thought “now what…”  as wood as always been my favorite.

I’ve never been a fan of clear mount stamps.  When they first came out I was thrilled that they would require less space.  After purchasing close to 100 sets I discovered that they began to curl and would not hold well on a block.  And embossing with them is practically non-existent as they stick in the Versamark pad and come off the block.  Sure there has been plenty of tips and tricks on what to do to make them stick better.  I’m obsessively opposed to the difficult.

The introduction of Cling Mount Stamps has made a big impact on how I feel about “mount” stamps – meaning adding them to a block when you want to stamp a particular image.  I love how they stay on the block and the crisp image they provide.  Storing them however can  be a little tricky since they stick so well.

Once I’ve put a stamp set together I trim the page the images come on to fit into the case and tape it down into the case.  Then I put the images back into their spot much like puzzle pieces.

This makes the stamp easy to remove when I want to use it and an added bonus is that I know instantly when and if one is missing.  Should you leave a stamp on the block for quite some time it could be hard to remove it.  Make sure you pull from the bottom (the clingy part) and not the red rubber.  Use the palette from the Take Your Pick tool if you have a problem remove it.  This would make it so much easier especially if you don’t have nails.

Manly Mondays

I was messing around this afternoon and came up with this card.

march 11 2019

The list of products that I used took long to list then it did to make the card 🙂  Started with a base of Basic Gray.  On a panel of Pool Party I stamped the waves from High Tide by stamping off first in some areas.  Since I was using Basic Gray ink I did not want the waves too dark.

I then stamped the frog (Old Olive) and bees (Daffodil Delight) from So Hoppy Together, again in Basic Gray, cut those out with the Hop Around Framelits.  Using Mossy Meadow I cut the lily pad and flowers.  Since these dies are rather small I was able to do all this in one pass on the Big Shot. To give the lily pad and flowers some texture I ran those through the Subtle Textured Embossing Folder.  I used Score Tape for the Lily Pad, all other cuts were adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Once I was finished with the Pool Party Panel I attached a piece of Animal Expedition DSP behind it.  The sentiment is from So Hoppy Together and that was stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and punched with a scalloped circle.

For some reason when I see a frog I always think of a grammar school friend of mine.  We might have chased frogs together in a creek close to home when we were kids.  I just might send him this card.

Until next time !!

Quick and easy Monday card.

Basic gray base with a panel of Whisper White. Stamped the car from Geared Up Garage in the middle with Tranquil Tide. Surrounded it with the same image by stamping it off once. Made 3 flags with Tranquil Tide, DSP from Classic Garage 6X6 and Whisper White. On the Whisper White I stamped the sentiment from Geared up Garage in Tranquile Tide and layered all the flags together.

I was in the mood to use plenty of colors today so this is what I came up with.

On a base of Tranquil Tide I added a piece of DSP from Share What You Love Specialty.  Using one of the dies from the In The Woods Framelits Die I created a mountain with So Saffron.  With the tree from the same set of dies I cut that with Wood Textures DSP.  I did not completely glue it down as I wanted to create the illusion that it was swaying in the wind.  One of my customers will appreciate this :).

From there I added a panel of Mossy Meadow and covered that a bit with more DSP from Share What You Love.  On So Saffron the sentiment was stamped in Mossy Meadow.  The sentiment comes from the Manly Moments Paper Pumpkin Kit May 2018.

Manly Mondays

Hello from a somewhat blizzardy day in northern Alberta.  I played hooky for most of the day where I escaped to catch a matinée of Bohemian Rhapsody.  Rami Malek was born to portray Freddie Mercury.  Highly recommend this movie !

For this week’s Manly Mondays I chose to make a whimsical birthday card.  I started with a base of Shaded Spruce and used Animal Expedition Designer Paper (recently featured on the Clearance Rack).

I die cut the Rhino with the Animal Friends Thinlits Die and attached it to the card with dimensionals.  On Crush Curry I stamped the sentiment from the Darling Label Punch Box twice using Shaded Spruce Classic Ink.  I punched one sentiment then trimmed the “Birthday” with paper snips on the other and attached that to the punch out with a dimensional.  I couldn’t find the mini ones so I used a regular size that I cut in 3.  Worked perfectly.

I love that ALL designer papers now have the coordinating colors written on the back of the package.  Sure helps in choosing colors to go with the paper.

Manly Mondays

At my last card class we made this card and I thought I would share it as Manly Mondays.

We first used the Card Front Builder dies to make the trees and frame using Whisper White Cardstock.  (In hindsight, thick Whisper White should have been used.  The “regular” cardstock is a little too thin for this particular die.)  Behind that silver meshing was adhered and all attached to a base of Mossy Meadow.  Deer was die cut with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter paper.

Besides using this as a Christmas card it could also be used for a winter time birthday.
