Manly Mondays

I was in the mood to use plenty of colors today so this is what I came up with.

On a base of Tranquil Tide I added a piece of DSP from Share What You Love Specialty.  Using one of the dies from the In The Woods Framelits Die I created a mountain with So Saffron.  With the tree from the same set of dies I cut that with Wood Textures DSP.  I did not completely glue it down as I wanted to create the illusion that it was swaying in the wind.  One of my customers will appreciate this :).

From there I added a panel of Mossy Meadow and covered that a bit with more DSP from Share What You Love.  On So Saffron the sentiment was stamped in Mossy Meadow.  The sentiment comes from the Manly Moments Paper Pumpkin Kit May 2018.

Manly Mondays

Manly Mondays

Hello from a somewhat blizzardy day in northern Alberta.  I played hooky for most of the day where I escaped to catch a matinée of Bohemian Rhapsody.  Rami Malek was born to portray Freddie Mercury.  Highly recommend this movie !

For this week’s Manly Mondays I chose to make a whimsical birthday card.  I started with a base of Shaded Spruce and used Animal Expedition Designer Paper (recently featured on the Clearance Rack).

I die cut the Rhino with the Animal Friends Thinlits Die and attached it to the card with dimensionals.  On Crush Curry I stamped the sentiment from the Darling Label Punch Box twice using Shaded Spruce Classic Ink.  I punched one sentiment then trimmed the “Birthday” with paper snips on the other and attached that to the punch out with a dimensional.  I couldn’t find the mini ones so I used a regular size that I cut in 3.  Worked perfectly.

I love that ALL designer papers now have the coordinating colors written on the back of the package.  Sure helps in choosing colors to go with the paper.

Manly Mondays

At my last card class we made this card and I thought I would share it as Manly Mondays.

We first used the Card Front Builder dies to make the trees and frame using Whisper White Cardstock.  (In hindsight, thick Whisper White should have been used.  The “regular” cardstock is a little too thin for this particular die.)  Behind that silver meshing was adhered and all attached to a base of Mossy Meadow.  Deer was die cut with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter paper.

Besides using this as a Christmas card it could also be used for a winter time birthday.

Manly Mondays

Hello from a little warmer up north.  We had a beautiful warm week last week and this week is progressing to be the same.  No more snow for now – yippee !!

For this week I thought I would share a Christmas card.  I know quite a few men that like red and this one packs a punch.

It’s very hard to photograph with all the foil.  The foil with the candy and snow flakes is actually wrapping paper.  This card was featured at my Coffee and Cards last week and was a big hit.  Layers of red and silver foil with one stamped image from the Christmas Traditions Punch box using the coordinating punch. The most consuming time was cutting all the layers but oh so worth it!

Manly Mondays ( A little late…)

I completely missed my notification on Sunday to get a card together for Manly Mondays.  I just realized this while I was having dinner.  Oooopsss…..

It’s red plaid shirt wearing weather around these parts and this card has been running around my head for awhile.

I started with a base of Real Red Cardstock and added a panel of Real Red stamped in black ink using the Buffalo Check stamp.  Watch for more ideas coming with the stamp, I have plenty.  I followed that with a black pocket from the Pocket Framelits Dies and adhered that with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I couldn’t think of a better sentiment than Thank You from the Thank You Thinlits Dies.  I love using spray adhesive (not from Stampin’ UP) for these cuts as they always hold up so well.

I received the Layering Alphabet Edgelits Dies today and just had to try it right away.  Haven’t seen too much done with this one.  No wonder, it’s the most expensive from the 2018 Annual Catalog.  Yikes !! This is what I came up with.

IMG_5122

Once I cut the Hello with the Wood Textures 6×6 DSP I decided the “burn” the letters a little by daubing Soft Suede directly on the letters.  Adhered all of that together and once it was whole I adhered it all to another piece of Wood Textures.  Sometimes you just have to let the designer paper speak for itself.

Threaded some Linen Thread through a True Gentleman Button. Attached that with a glue dot.  The base is Crumb Cake.

I would say this would be a perfect card to hide in a suitcase and surprise the recipient when he arrives at his destination.

I have so much designer paper I’ve challenged myself to use up a lot of it before the end of the year.  With this card I’m using some Always Artichoke (retired).  IMG_5053 (3)

The base is Cherry Cobbler, one of my favorite colors.  On a piece of Crumb Cake I stamped the tree trunks from Winter Woods with Early Espresso Classic Ink.  I then mixed alcohol and White Shimmer Paint in a spray bottle and sprites that on top of it.  The Congrats was die cut in Early Espresso and Champagne Foil paper using the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits and adhered on top just a bit off to give it some contrast.  The leaves were cut with the In The Woods Framelits Die which were glued with a tough of Multi Purpose glue – that I refer to as “green glue” because of the cap.  Braided Linen Trim was added to give it a little bit more texture.  This Trim is fast becoming a favorite !

Perfect card for that male student that did well on a report.
