New Year New Resolution

Happy New Year to you !!!

This year my resolution is to use what I have and I have PLENTY !!!!!!!

As am sure you do, it gets harder and harder to pick out a gift for the elders in your life.  My studio holds quite a few Artist’s Panel purchased from the dollar store.  I unwrapped an 8 x 10 and started creating.

memories

I first covered it with black acrylic paint and while that dried I dug through my designer papers and added layer after layer.  The little black camera was also painted with black acrylic paint.

The large black piece in the middle is also made of wood where a picture was added for a dear friend of mine.

The memories was cut with my Cameo.

I’ll be making more of these and you’ll be able to purchase them at a local market soon.

Today was time to play with some embossing paste!  I thought I would try it out on Poppy Parade.

may 6 2019

The base of this card is Shaded Spruce.  On Poppy Parade I applied White Embossing Paste using a Palette Knife.

The decorative mask is a retired one.  On Very Vanilla I stamped one of the trees from Rooted in Nature using Early Espresso Classic Ink. This was die cut with one of trees from Nature’s Roots Framelits.  I didn’t like the way it cut so I filled in some areas using the Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker.

Friend is from Well Written Framelits Dies cut in Shaded Spruce to round out the design.

Last week while making a card for Manly Mondays I had a heck of a time getting the design just right so I never got to make a post.  It was just one of those days.  This week I decided to use “Seize the Day” and do a similar card to what is on page 157.  Sadly this set will not be returning in the upcoming June 4th catalog.

April 29 2019

The base is Bermuda Bay.  On a layer of Water Color Paper I stamped the images using Mossy Meadow, Bermuda Bay, Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz.  When I stamped the meadow and deer image I used a watercolor brush to inhance the color.  The small banner punch was used in the right hand upper corner to give the layer a little depth.

For as long as I have been making cards I’ve never made a shaker card.  Today I thought I would give it a try.  It was so easy it has me wondering why I never attempted it before.

The base is Smoky Slate.  I cut a piece of Blueberry Bushel to measure 4″ x 5 1/4″.  That piece was run through the Big Shot with  one of the large rectangles from Rectangle Stitched Framelits.  Using the Simple Stripes Embossing folder I ran it through the Big Shot again.

Two pieces of Window Sheet were cut to 3 3/4 ” x 4 3/4″.  I attached one of those with Tear & Tape and surrounded it with Foam Adhesive Strips.  Added the sequins and adhered the second piece of Window Sheet.  A little note: polish the window sheet with a dry paper towel to remove any finger prints.  Before adding it to the base of Smoky Slate with dimensionals I stamped one the balloons from Balloon Celebrations in both Smoky Slate and Blueberry Bushel.

Once that was all put together I die cut the Happy Birthday Thinlit using Blueberry Bushel DSP.  This was adhered to the front using little dots of Multi Purpose Glue.

It’s quite stricking in real life and the sound is makes when shook can be a little too much entertaining.

While blog surfing this morning I came across a “new to me” card layout so I thought I would give it a try for a manly card.

April 1

I started with a piece of Basic Black Cardstock measuring 5″x7″, scored in half on the 7″ side. To that, I added a piece of designer paper. Using the Layering Squares Framelits I made 3 layers using Basic Black, Basic Gray and Designer paper. When I attached this to the base I ensured the height was just enough to be able to fit it in a medium envelope.

The “you” is a die cut from the Well Written Framelits Dies and that was cut in Basic Black and Basic Gray. I adhered these two with the Fine Tip Glue Pen offsetting them a bit. Amazing was cut with Galvanized Cardstock and also adhered with the Fine Tip Glue Pen. The “ARE” was stamp in Memento Black from the Brushwork Alphabet stamp set.

What do you think? Is this something you would be willing to try?

Paper, Paper and more Paper.  The number one comment I hear as a demonstrator is “I have so much paper I don’t want to get anymore”.  I can sure attest to that as I spent over 4 hours yesterday going thru all the Designer 12×12 paper I have while deciding what to keep.  I recently read a post that stated something like If it doesn’t bring you joy when you feel it get rid of it that inspired me to take another New Year Resolution off my list.  In future posts I will be using retired paper.  Hopefully it will bring you inspiration on what to do with yours.  On to today’s card !

march 25 2019

I started with a base of Basic Gray.  I then made a frame using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies.  The foliage and sentiment dies come from Foliage Framelits Dies and the Floral Frames Stamp Set. Once I stamped the sentiment and ran it through the Big Shot I colored some of the leaves with the Tranquil Tide Stampin’ Write Marker. I attached this to the harlequin patterned paper with dimensionals.  The foliage was cut with Tranquil Tide and attached inside the frame.

Wouldn’t this perfect to give to the guy in your life starting a new job or moving into a new apartment?

As for the paper I don’t want to keep I will be selling it at markets/events that I will be attending for 25¢ for single sided and 50¢ for double sided.

My next event is at Marci’s Bar and Grill 102 Erie St S # 15, Devon, Alberta T9G 2J4.  Hope to see you there.   I will be auctioning off two items.

Manly Mondays using Paper Pumpkin

This morning while I was having my morning coffee and watching Designing Women on YouTube (love that show but I have the say sometimes it makes feel old with some of the references they make) my monthly subscription of Paper Pumpkin arrived.  Perfect timing and I was especially curious to receive this one as there was 2 stamp sets included.

This card was so easy to put together !!  I didn’t even follow the instructions.  I just dug in.

The kit came with a Poppy Parade Ink Spot but I choose to go with Bermuda Bay.  And look at the inside

How cute is that !!  It took me less than 5 minutes.  I made it a 53 since I know a guy who’s celebrating his 53rd soon.

Contact me to get your hands on a Paper Pumpkin Kit so you can try it out for yourself.
